Public Speaking Expert
Steve Jobs was known for his rousing and passionate speeches as the head of Apple and now young actor Ashton Kutcher, has drawn inspiration from the late Steve Jobs for an acceptance speech at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards.
Ashton Kutcher was most likely drawing on his recent experience of playing Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic about the founder of Apple when he made his acceptance speech at the teen Choice Awards.
A composed Ashton Kutcher made his speech in while wearing jeans, an open shirt and baseball cap and took the opportunity to give out some advice for life during the speech at the awards ceremony.
He revealed during the speech that his real name is not actually Ashton but is Chris and instead of making a typical acceptance speech where he thanked family, friends and God, he instead urged those listening to “build a life” for themselves.
He said while collecting his Ultimate Award: “I feel like a fraud. My name is not actually Ashton. Ashton is my middle name. My first name is Chris.
“It got changed when I was 19 and I became an actor. But there were some really amazing things that I learned when I was Chris, and I wanted to share those things with you guys because I think it’s helped me to be here today.”
Ashton Kutcher took on the wild gestures noted as being used bby Steve Jobs when public speaking during his own speech with much of the speech echoing the famous Steve Jobs Stanford commencement speech of 2005.
Ashton continued: “I believe that opportunity looks a lot like hard work. When I was 13 I had my first job with my dad carrying shingles up to the roof, and then I got a job washing dishes at a restaurant, and then I got a job at a grocery store deli, and then I got a job in a factory sweeping Cheerios dust off the ground.
“And I never had a job in my life that I was better than. I was always just lucky to have a job. And every job I had was just a stepping stone to my next job. And I never quit my job until I had my next job, and so opportunities look a lot like work.”
The speech from Ashton Kutcher may have been a little heavy for the occasion of the Teen Choice Awards but he finished on a lighter note about what he thought it meant to be sexy: “The sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart, and being thoughtful, and being generous.”
This is sure to be one acceptance speech by Ashton Kutcher that will not be forgotten quickly.
